Is there a difference between the Federation and the "Federation of Light"?

Short Answer

Yes, and the speakers consider the confusion between them one of the most damaging distortions in the New Age movement. The Galactic Federation — also called the United Federation of Planets — is a physical, political organisation made of biological people in bodies who need chairs, councils, and starships. It exists in what is loosely called 5D, a slightly higher vibratory state than 3D Earth but still very much material. Above this, in vastly higher existential realms, there exists a conglomerate of light beings — higher selves, spirit guides, the most expanded aspects of consciousness — who operate outside space and time in near-total unity with Source. These beings do not call themselves a federation and have no need for one. The New Age "Federation of Light" is, according to the speakers, an idealised mashup of these two completely different things: the loving messages of etheric light beings grafted onto the political structure of a physical organisation that behaves, in practice, much like any other government. This conflation is not accidental — the speakers argue it was deliberately designed by the controllers of Earth as a perception-management tool for the awakening population.

The Physical Federation: Politicians Who Need Chairs

Mari Swaruu, who has walked the corridors of the Federation headquarters in the Andromedan biosphere Viera and also lived on Earth's surface as a Step Down, insists repeatedly on the material reality of the Federation. It is a physical multi-racial conglomerate established after the Great Expansion from Lyra, founded by Andromedans, Arcturians, and Lyrians. Its internal structure is a holistic step council system with chain-of-command hierarchies, Council meetings held every other Saturday in the Viera, and military forces belonging to specific member races tasked with policing and enforcement (S-034, 447, S-044).

The people who attend these councils are biological beings in bodies. They eat, they rest, they go to the bathroom. They have all the qualities and defects of any group of political actors. Some are deeply ethical. Others abuse their power in ways that mirror the behaviour of Earth politicians — extortion, fabrication of events, manipulation, and dirty tactics (S-155, S-249). The Federation is, as Mari puts it, nothing more than more government with the same basic structure as the ones on Earth, because it is the template from which Earth's political systems were copied (S-249).

This is the organisation that imposes arbitrary restrictions on visiting races, applies the Prime Directive selectively, monitors all communications through centralised hubs, and buries its real decision-making behind layers of inaccessible bureaucracy (S-038, 265). It is physical, political, flawed, and very much real in the material sense.

The Higher Federation: Light Beings Who Need Nothing

Above all of this, in existential realms so expanded that the very concepts of here and there no longer apply, there is something entirely different. Mari describes it as a conglomerate of all our higher selves, of all our most expanded versions or our spirit guides. These beings exist outside space and time, blending with one another as one great mass of consciousness while retaining only a slim concept of individual identity. They communicate through full telepathy. They do not travel in starships because they have transcended distance entirely through what the Taygetans call the principle of non-locality. They do not hold councils because they do not need organisational structures — they simply are (S-041).

These beings are, by definition, positive and loving, because their frequency and vibration make them a match only to that quality of existence. As you rise in density, the Federation as an organisation dissolves into obsolescence. The higher you go, the less you need political structures, enforcement mechanisms, or even names (S-155, S-041).

Light beings influence the physical world — including the physical Federation — by working through people in lower realms. They channel ideas, implant concepts, whisper guidance. They may incarnate as normal humans, remembering everything or remembering nothing but carrying their essence as inner knowing. In a real sense, everyone who has a soul is a light being; the degree to which those attributes manifest depends on the individual's connection to Source (S-041).

The New Age Conflation: Deliberate or Accidental?

The speakers identify three basic New Age descriptions of the Federation: a physical group of benevolent races monitoring an isolated Earth; a fighting force systematically defeating evil with liberation always imminent but never arriving; and a group of ascended masters in higher dimensions guiding humanity from above. Mari says all three contain some truth, but the subject is far too complicated for any of them (S-249).

The critical error, according to the speakers, is that the New Age mashes these together — taking the loving, transcendent qualities of the higher light beings and attributing them to the physical Federation politicians who sit in chairs in the Viera. The etheric beings do not call themselves a federation. They have no need for such an organisation. Yet the New Age concept pastes their qualities directly onto the nuts-and-bolts political body, creating an image of benevolent, all-powerful saviours that simply does not match the observed reality (S-044).

Yazhi Swaruu is the most blunt: the Federation of Light Commandos fighting on the Moon for the liberation of Earth is fiction, a direct reflection of the human mentality — the same religious good-versus-evil narrative dressed in a space suit. There is no liberation force arriving imminently. There is no cosmic battle between good and evil playing out in a way that will rescue humanity. The Matrix is a self-contained system for soul experiences, and the Federation manages it, not fights against it (316).

The New Age as a Control Mechanism

The speakers go further than simply identifying the conflation — they argue it was engineered. Mari Swaruu's analysis is that the New Age movement was designed and imposed by the Galactic Federation itself as a perception-management tool for the segment of the population that had started to awaken, to doubt official narratives, to lose faith in politicians and institutional religion (S-239).

The mechanism works like this: as people awaken, they leave the mainstream Matrix narrative. The controllers need a secondary containment system for these people — something that validates their suspicion that they have been lied to, makes them feel they are finally discovering the truth, and gives them community with like-minded people. The New Age fills this function perfectly. It provides an alternative belief system specifically tailored to the awakening population, complete with promises of liberation that never arrive, concepts of love and light that discourage fighting for your rights, and ascended masters who will solve everything so you do not need to become proactive yourself (S-239).

The concept of vibrational compatibility — which the speakers acknowledge is a genuine cosmic truth — has been weaponised within the New Age. If you are suffering, it is because you cannot control your vibration. If liberation has not arrived, it is because the collective frequency is not high enough. This produces the same obedience and passivity that institutional religion always produced, only with a flying-saucer twist. As Mari observes, each variant is specifically tailored to the awareness level of its target audience, so everyone gets exactly the version of the trap designed for their level of awakening (S-239).

The Saturday conferences in the Viera, where Federation representatives show atrocity images from Earth's wars to attending star races, reveal the same propaganda strategy applied upward — not just to humans but to the member races themselves. The Federation manages perception at every level, always controlling what each audience knows and thinks about the others (S-239).

Why This Distinction Matters

The practical consequence of confusing the two Federations is paralysis. If you believe that an all-powerful, all-loving light being Federation is fighting for your liberation, you wait. You sit in a high vibrational state and trust the process. You do not become proactive because the ascended masters are handling it.

But if you understand that the physical Federation is a political body with the same structural flaws as any government, the same tendencies toward corruption, the same use of propaganda and compartmentalisation — then the response is different. Then the door opens from inside, not from above. The speakers consistently insist that humanity must solve its own problems, that the physical Federation will not intervene because it is the manager of the Matrix, not the liberator from it. The higher light beings can guide and inspire, but they work through individuals, not through political or military action (S-040, S-041, S-044).

The distinction matters because it is the difference between passivity and agency. The New Age version of the Federation offers rescue. The speakers' version offers reality — flawed, bureaucratic, sometimes corrupt, but also containing genuinely ethical individuals at every level. And above it all, light beings who are not a separate organisation but the highest aspects of the very souls living through the experience.

Evolution Across Speakers

Mari Swaruu (2023-2024) builds the most systematic case across her Federation video series, progressively separating the physical Federation from the higher light beings and identifying the New Age conflation as an engineered control mechanism.

Yazhi Swaruu (2022) provides the sharpest dismissal — the Federation of Light Commandos are fiction, everything is false from Earth's point of view, and the only real thing is the soul making the experience.

Athena Swaruu (2021) delivers the political anatomy through the mutual accusations between Taygeta and the Federation, revealing a physical organisation with all-too-human political dynamics (181).

The earlier Swaruus and the 447 overview establish the foundational framework: the Federation is a physical organisation, not an etheric one, and the New Age treatment of it is a controlled narrative flooding UFO communities with disinformation.
